We continued our work with coordinate geometry today by taking a look at how slope relates to parallel and perpendicular lines. We reviewed the algebra concepts that parallel lines have the same slopes and perpendicular lines have slopes that are opposite reciprocals. These facts were then used to work with various geometric figures to confirm parallel sides or perpendicular diagonals, etc. The students then got started on their homework.
