Algebra 10-12 assignment; 10/30

We continued to go over how to interpret graphs and make graphs for various events.  We went over three examples in class and then the students starting working on their own assignment of drawing and explaining the graphs of two separate events.

Assignment:  Draw and label two separate events on a labeled axes.

Directions appear below.

Relating Graphs to Events Assignment
Your task is to create two graphs of events and draw them.  There will be one graph on each side of the piece of paper you have been given.  For each graph, you need to label the axes, and most likely both of the graphs will involve time.  Here are the requirements for each graph.  You have freedom to choose the event that you would like to graph / describe.
Necessary Items on Graph:
1.  Label the axes on the graph;  one of the graphs needs to be a speed vs. time graph.  The other graph can be some other measurement vs. time.
2.  Each graph need to have at least 7 sections on it.  (changes of direction in the line)
3.  Each section needs to be labeled with a number on the graph
4.  Somewhere on the graph, those numbers need to be explained in words as to what is happening during that section of the graph.
5.  The graph needs to have a title written at the top that indicates the event involved.
6.  The axes need to be neatly written with a ruler.  The axes need to include the entire area of the paper.

7.  The numbers on the graph and the written explanations need to be neatly written so that they can be easily read and understood.
