Geometry; 9/30

Today's algebra review involved how to graph linear equations and how to solve equations involving a variety of fractions.  We went over 4-5 examples together before the students got started on their review.

Assignment:  Graphing Linear Equations WS

Geometry 10-12; 9/30

Today's lesson focused on the phrases used in working with deductive reasoning.  These conditional statements are ones that we will use quite a bit in this particular unit.  We went over if...then statements and their converses.  We pointed out how to determine the hypothesis and the conclusion of each statement that we work with.  We also explained how to evaluate each statement for its truth, and to provide a counterexample if the statement is false.

We continued to work with the quadratic formula today and used the discriminant to determine the types of x-intercepts that the graph will possess.  We went through 3-4 examples together before getting started on the assignment.

Geometry; 9/27

We spent time today getting ready for some of the algebra topics that will be covered in the next unit in geometry.  We worked through how to evaluate different line equations today.  The slope-intercept form, the standard form, and the point slope form were the three lines equations that we worked on today.

Assignment:  Linear Equations Review

Geometry 10-12; 9/27

We introduced the concept of deductive reasoning is today and compared it to what we had learned about inductive reasoning earlier.  We then explained how to work through some logic puzzles using deductive reasoning.  The students then got to work on solving several of these logic puzzles.

Assignment:  Logic Puzzles Packet

Honors Algebra 2; 9/27

Our lesson today focused on how to use the quadratic formula and the discriminant to predict the types of solutions a quadratic will have.  We went over 3-4 examples of how to do this together before getting started with the homework.
