Honors Algebra 2; 3/2

Our lesson today focused on more aspects of solving equations using the properties of logs and exponents.  We went over 4-5 examples together of either common base or different base problems.

The lesson today focused on a similarity transformation:  dilations.  We went over how to read the notation for dilations and how to graph points on the axes using the provided scale factor.  We also worked on how to determine the scale factor given a drawing or coordinates.

We continued our work with special right triangles today by taking a look at how to do problems that involve rationalizing the denominator.  We went over 3-4 together before the students got started on their homework.

We went over a couple of application problems involving determining the time involved in finance problems.  These types of problems are now possible due to being able to use the properties of logs and exponentials.

The lesson today focused on how to prove lines parallel from various similarity drawings.  We went over 4-5 examples together, as well as worked on problems involving factoring of polynomials in similarity problems.

The lesson today focused on how to work with special right triangles.  We went over the patterns involved with 45-45-90 triangles and 30-60-90 triangles.

Today's lesson focused on the various properties of logs that  can be used to solve problems.  We went over the properties of products, quotients, and powers together in our lesson.  The students also learned how to expand and condense log equations.
