I was out at a district meeting today, so the students worked on some practice proofs that they could then check on canvas.  They then worked on a chapter 2 review sheet for their upcoming test.

Honors Algebra 2; 10/2

Our lesson today focused on perpendicular and parallel lines.  We went through a few sample calculations of how to use the slopes of lines to determine whether or not they are perpendicular or parallel.  Parallel lines have the same slope, while perpendicular lines have slopes that are opposite reciprocals of each other.

Geometry 10-12; 10/2

We introduced the concept of geometric proofs today by going over several shortened proof steps in class.  We also walked through 3 of these proofs together before getting started on the homework.  The students would try a couple proofs and then we would go over them.  We ended up doing 3 together, and they have 3 more to do on their own.

We continued our work with proofs today by taking a look at how perpendicular lines fit into proofs.  We went through 3 theorems today involving perpendicular lines and also showed a couple of calculation problems as well.  The students then got started on their assignments.

Honors Algebra 2; 10/1

We went over 4-5 examples today of how to graph a wide variety of lines.  Each of these involves line equations and/or slopes.  The students then got started on their assignment towards the end of the period.

Geometry 10-12; 10/1

We continued our work with algebra proofs today by taking a look at a few new properties that can be used.  We went over the substitution, transitive, reflexive, and symmetric properties today before getting started on our assignment.

We continued our work with angle pairs today by taking a look at how these pairs of angles are used in both proofs and calculation problems.  We went through 2 of each before the students got started on their assignment.
