Geometry; 3/13

We introduced the first of two special right triangles today:  the 45-45-90 triangle.  We went through 4-5 example problems to demonstrate the pattern of calculations found within this type of triangle.  The students then took their perfect squares and simplifying radicals quiz.

Assignment:  Special Right Triangles WS #1

Geometry 10-12; 3/13

The students took the trig. ratio quiz in class today.

Assignment:  none

Honors Algebra 2; 3/13

We concluded our work with geometric series today by taking a look at how the summation formula can be used to determine the value of monthly payments for a variety of loan types.  We went over a couple of problems together before the students got started working on their review for the quiz on Monday.

Assignment:  Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences and Series Review WS

Geometry; 3/12

We worked through the use of the converse of the pythagorean theorem today.  We used it to classify triangles as well as to determine the area and perimeter of a variety of types of figures.

Assignment:  Converse of Pythagorean Thm. WS

Geometry 10-12; 3/12

We reviewed the various aspects of the trig ratios that we have covered these past two weeks through 4-5 problems together.  The students then got started on their trig. ratio quiz review.  The answers will be posted on canvas to check before the quiz tomorrow.

Assignment:  Trig Ratio Quiz Review

Honors Algebra 2; 3/12

We continued our work with geometric series today by taking a look at how to determine the sum of these sequences and the calculations they involve.

Assignment:  page 347-348,  #28-36, 40-42

Geometry; 3/11

We started our study of right triangles today by taking a look at the Pythagorean Theorem, its history, and the various types of problems that can be solved with it.  We took a look at a short youtube video before working through 3-4 problems together.  The students then got started on their assignment.
